Evidence-first aviation data API

Aircraft intelligence
by N-number.

TailTrace resolves aircraft identity first, then connects authoritative FAA, NTSB, maintenance, and regulatory records—while preserving where every fact came from and how certain it is.

Built for aviation software, fleet intelligence, research, and AI agents.

Three focused endpoints

Ask the right question.

Start with identity, follow the history, or bring the full evidence layer into your product.

01

Identify

Resolve a requested N-number to the strongest supported physical-aircraft and registration identity.

GET /identify
03

Intelligence

Connect aircraft history with SDR, component, TCDS, AD-candidate, and STC evidence.

GET /intelligence

Example response

Make the identity visible.

A deliberately illustrative UI shell. Insert a verified production response before publishing an aircraft-specific example.

How TailTrace works

Trace the record back to the source.

  1. 01

    Authoritative sources

FAA, NTSB, service, and regulatory data.

  2. 02

    Identity resolution

Tail number, serial, dates, and context assessed together.

  3. 03

    Evidence-backed record

    Facts retain provenance and uncertainty.

  4. 04

    Developer API

Clear responses for products and agents.

Source coverage

The records behind the answer.

TailTrace is built to grow with the question—from FAA aircraft lookup and registration history to maintenance, accident, regulatory and airworthiness data.

01FAA RegistryRegistration & aircraft reference
02NTSBAccident & event history
03SDRService Difficulty Reports
04ADAirworthiness Directives

Why identity-first matters

A tail number is evidence.
It is not always identity.

N-numbers can change hands, be cancelled, and be reused. Historical records should not be blindly joined to whichever aircraft wears the tail number today. TailTrace evaluates serial-number context, dates, and corroborating source evidence before making the connection.
